Device-locked Licence
A device-locked licence is installed on the computer that is running the DNV software. The licence file is linked to the specific hardware of the computer it is initiated on; hence the licence file cannot then be shared to another computer.
An online connection is required for the initial licence installation, after which the PC can be offline for up to 45 days before refreshing. To refresh, simply open the software with internet access. The 45 days will be reset every time the software is launched whilst internet access is available.
Licence Administrator: Obtaining your access key
A designated Company Licence Administrator retrieves an access key from My DNV Software and forwards it to the end user. Only Company Licence Administrators have access to these codes.
The access key is obtained from the Access Key section of the Licences tab. One access key provides access to all products your company is entitled to. You can either:
- Copy the key to share manually, or
- Invite Users to send an email with the key, setup instructions, and learning resources.

End user: Licence activation
To activate the licences users need to register the access key (obtained from your company's licence administrator) using the Licence activation tool (LAT), available in Nauticus Machinery Client Settings => Licence setting => Activate Licences.

Launch the Licence activation tool by clicking the Activate Licences button. Select the 'Activate using an access key' option, then press Next button to proceed to the next step.

Enter the access key provided by your company's licence administrator, then click the Activate button.

Check on the products listed for activation. Click the Activate button to proceed.

If the activation is successful, the Licence Activation tool will show you the products you are entitled to. The table displays important information about your licence:
- Information column - Shows the Key expiration date, which is the final date your licence key remains valid.
- Message column - Shows the SLA (Service Level Agreement) expiration date, indicating until when your licence is eligible for new software versions and updates.

Once the access key is registered successfully, you can restart the application and start working.
If you have another access key, further product add-ons can be activated using the "Activate a new licence" button.
Viewing your usage
The usage can be viewed by the designated Company Licence Administrator in My DNV Software in the Usage section of the Licences tab. This allows the account administrator to view the users currently using the licences.
