Reduce computational costs using external matrices for substation design
Date: 27 March 2025TutorialGeniE models
This tutorial uses a simplified topside model to demonstrate how parts of the structural geometry and its loading can be replaced with matrices and load vectors. Using GeniE and Sestra, the matrices representing a topside are exported into a separate file, then imported into a jacket model and a static analysis is run to verify the accuracy of the results.
The tutorial contains the following steps:
- The topside model is exported into a matrix interface file by usage of Sestra which is run through GeniE.
- This matrix interface file is imported into a structural model of the jacket, where the topside is missing, and the corresponding matrices now represent the topside.
- The accuracy of the model with the matrices is evaluated by comparing the results with full modelling of the topside
