Phast license identification

The licensing system used by Phast, Safeti, KFX and LEAK depends upon which version of the software you are using. The two sections below show the details of the types of license available in each system. Click on the relevant box to see more details of how to use each type of license in the software.

Phast and Safeti 9.1

The licensing system used by Phast and Safeti changed with version 9.1. This will also be the licensing system used by future versions of the software. There are two types of license available:

CloudLM

A shared license allowing the DNV software to run on any client PC with internet access to the DNV cloud license server.

Standalone

License is installed locally on a single client PC running the DNV software. After online license installation the PC can be offline for up to 45 days before refreshing.

Phast and Safeti 9.0 and earlier, KFX and LEAK

Version 9.0 and earlier of Phast and Safeti, as well as KFX and LEAK, used a different licensing system. There are three types of license available:

Standalone

License is installed locally on a single client PC running the DNV software

Dongle

License is installed on a locked USB dongle, which allows use of the DNV software on any client PC connected to that dongle

Network

License is managed through a common network location, allowing the DNV software to run on any client PC connected to that network

How to identify your 9.0 and older license from the license file

Standalone License

The standalone license requires only a license file and an environment variable to be set.

Network License

The network license requires a license file and installation of a license manager on the server. Clients require only an environment variable to be set.

Dongle License

The dongle license requires a license file, a dongle and installation of a dongle driver.

A dongle license is similar to a standalone license; however, the license is locked to the dongle rather than to the machine's physical address.
