Error: Sentinel HASP Run-time not found (E0009)

Cause:

This error occurs when running version 1.2 or later of the SIF to Wdnh Converter tool on client machines where only version 9 of the Sentinel license runtime (i.e. required by Bladed 4.16 and later) has ever been installed on the machine. If version 7 of the license runtime (i.e. used by Bladed 4.15 and earlier) was previously installed on the machine, and then version 9 was installed later, the error does not occur.

Solution:

The workaround to this problem is to completely uninstall version 9 of the license runtime, install version 7 of the license runtime, and then install version 9 of the license runtime again. This can be done using the procedure below:

  • Download the v9 license runtime command-line installer using this link.
  • Open a command prompt window using the "Run as administrator" option, and navigate to the folder the command-line installer file (haspdinst.exe) has been downloaded to.
  • Run the following command to completely uninstall the existing license runtime: haspdinst.exe -r -purge
  • Keep the command prompt window open, it will be used again in a later step.
  • Run a Bladed 4.14 installer, by right-clicking on the installer file and using the "Run as administrator" option (the latest Bladed 4.14 installer can be downloaded from the Downloads page).
  • On the "Select Components" installer screen, untick the "Bladed" option, and ensure that the "Sentinel HASP Runtime Environment" option is ticked.
  • Continue through the rest of the installer screens - this will install v7 of the license runtime.
  • In the command prompt window, run the v9 license runtime command-line installer again using the following command, to install the v9 runtime (overwriting the existing v7 runtime installation): haspdinst.exe -i
  • Run the SIF to Wdnh Converter tool again to see if the license runtime problem has been resolved.
