Generating a C2V file

Overview

A C2V file for a dongle provides a snapshot of the current state of the Bladed 4 licence on the dongle.

You may be asked by the DNV support team to provide a C2V file to allow a a V2C licence update file to be generated, or when investigating licence problems.

Generating a C2V file

A C2V file can be generated using the instructions below.

Please note that this procedure can only be followed on the machine that the dongle is plugged into.

  1. Ensure that the dongle is plugged into a spare USB port on a Windows PC with a Bladed 4 installation.
  2. Open File Explorer and browse to the Sentinel subfolder of a recent Bladed 4 installation, e.g. C:\DNV\Bladed 4.18\Sentinel
  3. Run BladedRUS.exe. The following window is shown:

    RUS tool window

  4. Ensure that the Collect Status Information tab is shown, and that the Update of existing protection key option is selected.
  5. Click Collect Information and save the C2V file.

Send the C2V file to us as an email attachment, by replying to the email sent by the DNV support team.

C2V troubleshooting

If the following error message is shown, this indicates that no dongle is plugged into the local machine.

If you are attempting to generate a C2V file for a network dongle plugged into a remote licence server machine, this is not possible - you will need to generate the C2V file on the remote licence server machine itself (e.g. using a RDP session, or directly on the machine).

If you have any other issues when generating a C2V file, please let us know by replying to the email sent by the DNV support team.
